Store Manager at Ismageriet

Who are we?
We are growing and will soon open another store in Copenhagen, which is why we are now looking for a store manager for the new location. Ismageriet's mission is for our customers to have a fantastic experience every time they visit, encouraging them to return and recommend Ismageriet to others – each day and season should be better than the last. Since our humble beginnings in 2005 in a closed-down bakery focused on crafting high-quality ice cream, Ismageriet has expanded into two—and soon three—large stores with significant online sales. Every Ismageriet store is staffed by 2 assistant managers and a store manager, along with a kitchen manager, who all work together with a focus on well-being and teamwork. We have 25 full-time employees, and each store has up to 90 young people during the high season. Your main responsibilities will include:                                                
  • Ensuring the store is operational at all times and that staff deliver excellent service and beautiful ice cream according to Ismageriet's high standards.
  • Always ensuring correct staffing levels in the store based on weather and season
  • Customer and order management behind the counter alongside your team
  • Ensuring motivation and job satisfaction within the team, which can involve up to 90 associated employees during peak season.
  • Hiring, training, and developing our many super scoopers.
  • Light administrative tasks, such as cash management, online shift planning, etc.
The right candidate for the job:
  • Has relevant experience from a similar position in a café/restaurant or fast-food restaurant, possibly from places like Burger King, Jensens Bøfhus, Tivoli, or other food businesses/chains.
  • Has extensive experience in shift planning, inventory ordering, leadership, and various ad hoc tasks related to the daily operation of a restaurant/café/store.
  • Is flexible and steps in when necessary. You should see the benefits of working unconventional hours, both day and night, as well as weekends and holidays, since we're open year-round and busy when others have time off.
  • Enjoys being on the shop floor and is equally comfortable with some office/administrative work (estimated work distribution: 70% store/30% office).
  • Is a motivating and proactive leader who is confident and secure in their leadership style.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, clear leader with relevant work experience who understands working with many young employees and who loves ice cream and the service industry. You know what it means to handle rush hours and find it enjoyable. You can maintain an overview, prioritize tasks, and stay positive and clear, even during busy times. You have a high and contagious energy level, are service-minded, and always focused on giving customers the best experience. Planning comes naturally to you, and you stay ahead of the next period/season, always optimizing and learning from past mistakes. It’s certainly an advantage if you have an education in service management or similar, where you've gained leadership skills since this position comes with the responsibility for the operation of our new large ice cream store in Kødbyen, which we will open in spring 2023.
