Our Story – In a Nutshell

Ismageriets første butik på Kongelundsvej åbnede i 2005, indrammet af et villahus, der siden 1958 havde været et velbesøgt familieejet bageri. Da Ismageriets stifter i 2003 kom forbi det fine bageri, faldt han med det samme for butikkens hyggelige retro interiør, der stadig var intakt fra da butikken blev bygget i slut 50’erne. 

Our ice cream

Ismageriet's ice cream is inspired by classic Italian gelato and is crafted right in the back rooms of each shop, in small batches throughout the day. This ensures that the ice in the display is always freshly made, boasting the perfect creamy consistency.

Our vision is to offer our customers homemade ice cream of the highest quality, alongside a wide range of exciting flavors. Ismageriet's selection is therefore seasonal and changes weekly, so there's always something new to taste.

Our Ice Cream Production

Our milk ice cream is crafted by heating our base ingredients – milk, sugar, skimmed milk powder, and stabilizer. This heating process melts the ingredients together and eliminates any bacteria. This process is called pasteurization. Once that's done, the base is cooled down, allowed to rest for 12 hours, and then it's all set to become ice cream. This transformation happens when our ice cream makers add flavor ingredients like coconut, caramel, chocolate, and more, and then run the base through our ice cream machine. 

Our sorbets are made by blending raw berries or fruits with sugar, water, and lemon. Since we use fresh berries and fruits, their sweetness can vary significantly, so we use sugar and lemon to adjust the flavor. Next, a vegetable stabilizer is added, and the base is now ready to be processed in our ice cream machine.

We use natural and fresh ingredients.

Some of our key ingredients are:

  • Milk and cream supplied by Arla.
  • Hazelnuts, pistachios, and almonds sourced from Italy.
  • In-season fresh berries from local gardens.
